Grain stocks in Kazakhstan’s bins dropped to 7.8 million tons
As of May 1 of this year, grain stocks amounted to 7.84 million tons.
This information was provided by the Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan.
It should be recalled that last month this figure was equal to 9.23 million tons. Consequently, during one month the volume of reserves decreased by 1.39 million tons.
As of the reporting date, wheat reserves amounted to 6.4 million tons, of which the reserves of food wheat are 4.83 million tons, and forage wheat reserves amounted to 0.36 million tons.
In addition, as of May 1, crops such as rice, barley, rye, oats, buckwheat and millet were also stored in the bins of Kazakhstan. The stocks of the abovementioned crops amounted to 0.15 million tons, 0.86 million tons, 6.9 thousand tons, 0.12 million tons, 36.3 thousand tons and 10 thousand tons, respectively.
The lack of precipitation and unfavorable weather conditions are the main reasons for the reduction in grain reserves in the western regions of Kazakhstan. This situation could have an impact on the country’s economy, as grain is one of Kazakhstan’s key export commodities. Authorities are taking measures to improve the situation, including supporting farmers and using new technologies in agriculture.
