Sunflower prices resume growth in Ukraine
According to the analytical agency APK-Inform, sunflower seed prices in Ukraine have resumed their upward trend. Processors are offering demand prices at 27,500–28,400 UAH/ton (CPT-enterprise), particularly for seeds with a high oil content. This price increase is driven by stronger demand for raw materials and intensified competition for high-quality seed lots. Analysts note that this growth may encourage producers to invest more in quality — not only in volume, but also in characteristics that affect processing profitability, such as oil content.
Quality Control of Raw Materials: The Role of the Granolyser NIR Analyzer
When processors are willing to pay premium prices for sunflower seeds with superior characteristics, quality control of raw materials becomes especially important. One of the most advanced tools for this purpose is the Granolyser infrared grain analyzer by 3S Company (the exclusive partner of Pfeuffer in Ukraine). This device offers several key advantages:
- Performs analysis without sample preparation (whole seeds), including oilseeds such as sunflower.
- Measures parameters such as moisture, protein, oil content, gluten, and starch — depending on the crop.
- High speed of analysis: a full test in ~20 seconds (Granolyser) or ~40 seconds (Granolyser HL).
Thanks to such equipment, elevators, processing plant laboratories, and traders can objectively assess the quality of sunflower seed batches, determine fair pricing for high oil content and other key indicators. This helps raise overall raw material quality standards on the market and reduces risks for processors.
The rise in sunflower prices in Ukraine creates new opportunities for market participants — not only in procurement volumes but also in improving quality standards. Investments in modern analytical tools such as Granolyser are becoming a key factor in strengthening the competitiveness of both producers and processors.
