Production of flour has decreased in Ukraine
During the period from the beginning of the year to August, 1.07 million tons of milling products were produced in Ukraine. In comparison with the production volumes of the past year, the figures for this year are down by 11%.
Such information was provided by the State Statistics Committee.
Production volumes of flour in August reached 142 thousand tons. This figure is 24.4% more than it was in July, but 17% less than it was in August 2017.
Thus, in July 2018, the production volumes of milling products amounted to 107.35 thousand tons, and in August last year, 166 thousand tons were produced.
It should be recalled that since the beginning of the new MY and as of October 10, the volume of milling products supplies abroad amounted to 52.8 thousand tons.
In recent years, flour production in Ukraine has decreased by 5%. However, the demand for flour in the market remains stable. This is due to the fact that Ukrainian flour producers cannot compete with foreign suppliers due to high prices for electricity and fuel, as well as a lack of raw materials for production. As a result, Ukraine imports flour from foreign suppliers, which reduces the demand for domestic production. Additionally, the droughts and poor harvests of 2017 have impacted flour production in Ukraine by reducing the yield of grains. In response, Ukrainian flour producers are searching for new ways to improve production efficiency and enhance the quality of their products to maintain their position in the market.
