During July-September of the 18/19 MY, 5.26 million tons of wheat were supplied to foreign markets from Ukraine, which is lower than the figures for the same period last year by 11.3%. This indicator is also the lowest over the past three marketing years.

Such information was provided by UkrAgroConsult.

During September, export volumes reached 2.16 million tons, which is equal to August export volumes, but it is 18.4% less than export volumes in September last year.

The main importing countries of this crop are Indonesia and the European Union. During this period, there was an increase in exports to these countries by 15% and 20%, respectively. It should also be added that export to the Philippines increased by 464.8 thousand tons in comparison with the past year.

However, we observe a decline in purchases of wheat from Egypt, which prefers to buy wheat in Russia. Thus, during this period, the volume of imports by Egypt decreased by 55%.

During the period from July to September 2018, wheat exports from Ukraine decreased by 11%. The total volume of exports amounted to 18.19 million tons. The main consumers of Ukrainian wheat are still Asian and African countries, but their share in the total export is decreasing. Experts attribute the decline in export volumes to several factors, including the poor harvest of 2017, increased competition in the global market, and a reduction in wheat production in Ukraine itself. However, Ukrainian producers continue to work on improving the quality of their products and improving delivery conditions to the global market in order to maintain their position in the industry.
