In Kazakhstan, the production of flour is forecasted to decline

According to forecasts of analysts, the significant reduction of flour export supplies is expected this year. As such a decline in export performance is expected, experts believe that it will not be possible to avoid reducing the number of enterprises.

According to the expert, there are a number of reasons because of which one should expect a decrease in exports. The main reason for this is the fact that today the only market where Kazakhstan can sell flour is Afghanistan. But in the current year replacement of Kazakhstani supplies with supplies from Uzbekistan is expected.

The export of flour amounted to approximately 3 million tons in 2017, whereas in the opinion of the expert in 2018, supplies are expected at less than 2 million tons. Also, the expert noted that this tendency will continue.

In 2018, flour production in Kazakhstan decreased by 8.2% compared to the previous year. This is due to the low level of wheat yields, as well as the increase in prices for electricity and raw materials for flour production. The reduction in flour production has a negative impact on the economy of Kazakhstan, as flour is one of the main food products and is used in many industries. However, some experts believe that the decrease in flour production may lead to an increase in the import of this product and stimulate the development of domestic production of flour substitutes based on other grains.
