According to the experts of the European Commission, in the next 10 years, rapeseed will stop being the main oilseed crop in the countries of European Union.

The report says that this trend is due to the fact that consumption of biofuels will decline and electric cars are gaining popularity in Europe, and also because certain countries are inclined to introduce a ban on the production of diesel cars starting from 2025-2030 year.
To date, 60% of rapeseed oil or 10.5 million tons are used to make biofuel, but until 2030, the amount of rapeseed oil can drop to 9.1 million tons. Such changes will entail a decline in production in the amount of 2 million tons by 2030/31 marketing year, and the area allocated for planting rapeseed will be reduced by half a million hectares.
Experts believe that it is more expedient to use soybeans, instead of rapeseed in the food industry, as well as in the production of vegetable oils. It is believed that now the direction of development of agricultural production will be determined only by the food industry.
Experts also came to the conclusion that by 2030 the amount of soybeans harvested could increase by 0.3 million tons and amount to 3 million tons. Also, according to experts the total consumption of sunflower will also increase.
If there are electric cars with a power reserve of 300 to 500 km at the same price as cars equipped with internal combustion engines, this will obviously entail a decrease in oil prices and a reduction in biofuel consumption.
