This year, Ukraine hit a record of all previous years in terms of early grain yields
This year Ukrainian agrarians have harvested 44.8 million tons of early grains and leguminous crops. This figure hits a record of all previous years.
Grain harvesting is over! From an area of more than 10 million hectares, which fully conforms to the plan, almost 45 million tons of grain have been threshed. That is a record for Ukraine at the moment.
The volume of milled wheat and barley is shown in the following table:
Crop | Volume, million tons | Max. yield, cwt/ha | Max. yield in the region |
Wheat | 32,8 | 65,2 | Khmelnitsky region |
Barley | 10,1 | 57,2 | Kyiv region |
The first place among Ukrainian regions in terms of grain milling was taken by the Odesa region (over 4 million tons). The following regions also milled over 3 million tonnes: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson.
Quality control becomes even more crucial with record harvests
With Ukraine reaching historic highs in early grain yields, attention to product quality becomes critical — both for domestic consumption and export. High yield does not always guarantee high quality, which is why modern agricultural enterprises increasingly rely on grain analyzers.
Devices such as NIR spectrometers, moisture analyzers, and laboratory mills allow for rapid and accurate assessment of protein content, moisture levels, gluten strength, and other key indicators. This enables producers to classify batches by quality, set accurate pricing, and meet export standards.
