In Kazakhstan the indicators of grain shipment by rail increased

During the first ten days of the current month 11% more grain was transported by rail than during the same period last year. In Kazakhstan, 50.500 tons of grain were transported throughout the country, while 139.700 tons were shipped to foreign markets. At the same time, the quantity of flour shipped decreased, as the price of this type of product fell.

The volumes of goods for import transported by rail reached 1.5 million tons, which exceeds the figure of the past year by 16.000 tons and 8.3 million tons of goods were shipped for export. The greatest increase is observed in the direction of China (26%) and Uzbekistan (58%).

Taking such an active beginning of the year and significant increases in rail transportation into account, there is a hope that this year it will be possible to avoid disastrous situation with railway cars, which was observed in the second half of 2017.

Kazakhstan has seen an increase in grain shipments by rail, driven by higher yields and stronger export demand. This is having a positive impact on the country’s economy and the incomes of farmers who rely on exports. The rise in grain shipments could also strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the global grain market and increase competition from other producers. To ensure the stability of export supplies, it is important to continue developing transportation infrastructure and improving the conditions for grain transportation.
