Harvest volumes in Kazakhstan exceeds last year’s results by 1.6 times

According to information received from the Ministry of Agriculture, as of September 4, the crops were harvested from more than 5 million hectares, which is 32.9% of the total sown area. The avarage yield was 11.4 kg/ha, and the volume of grain harvested reached 5.7 million tons.

As of the reporting date of last year 16.9% of the territory was harvested, and the yield reached 3.4 million tons with an average yield of 13.5 centeners per hectare.

It should be recalled that in total this year sown area amounted to 22.2 million hectares, of which 15.4 million hectares were allotted for grain.

The largest part of sowing area for grain is in Akmola region – 4.4 million hectares or 29%. In Kostanay and North-Kazakhstan regions the area for grain is 4 million hectares or 25.8% and 2.9 million hectares or 18.6% respectively.

It is worth adding that the weather conditions of the current season, namely the abnormal heat, negatively affected the condition of grain crops.

This significant increase in production is attributed to the expansion of the sown area and better weather conditions. Kazakhstan continues to develop its agricultural sector, and the new harvest results demonstrate positive changes in this area.
