The current sowing campaign in Kazakhstan goes behind last year’s rates by 12%

As of May 30, the sowing in the Republic of Kazakhstan is completed by almost 72%, which is 10.15 million hectares. However, as of the indicated date in the past year, crops were sown on 84.5% of the territory.

It should also be recalled that in the current year, the area allocated for planting crops is 21.8 million hectares, which is equal to the level of the previous year. Of the total area, 14.7 million hectares are allotted for cereals, and 11.4 million hectares are allotted for wheat, which is 0.5 million hectares less than last year.

As of May 30, the sowing was completed in 4 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, namely in Aktyubinsk region, Zhambyl region, West and South Kazakhstan regions.

Also, it should be added that torrential rains prevent the sowing in the main grain regions. Sowing in these regions was completed by 74%, 71.7% and 60.2%. All these indicators are 15% less than they were last year.

Currently, the sowing campaign continues in Kazakhstan, but according to the Ministry of Agriculture, it is lagging behind last year’s pace by 12%. The main reason for this lag is unfavorable weather conditions, including prolonged spring frosts and strong winds. These factors make it difficult to work in the fields and negatively affect the quality of the planting material. In some regions of Kazakhstan, there is also a lack of moisture, which also has a negative impact on plantings. However, the government is taking measures to support agricultural producers and compensate for losses. In particular, funds have been allocated to purchase seeds and fertilizers, and preferential credit programs have been established. Despite the unfavorable conditions, agricultural producers continue to work in the fields and hope for a good harvest.
