Since the beginning of 18/19 MY, over 35 million tons of grain have been exported from Ukraine

Since the beginning of the current marketing season and as of March 18, over 35 million tons of grain crops have been shipped from Ukraine abroad, which is 5.8 million tons more than it was sent to foreign markets last year.

Such information was provided by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety.

During the specified period, the volumes of wheat supplies reached 12.7 million tons, which is less than last year’s volumes by almost 1 million tons. The amount of exported barley reached more than 3.1 million tons, which is lower than last year’s volumes by 0.8 million tons. In addition, 18.4 million tons of corn were also exported, which is 7.5 million tons more than last year.

Is should also be noted that during this period, 3.8 million tons of oilseeds were exported abroad, which is half a million tons less than last year.

Since the beginning of 2018/19 marketing year, grain exports from Ukraine have increased by 15%, indicating the growth of productivity and competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural producers. At the same time, global grain markets are becoming increasingly competitive, which requires Ukrainian exporters to constantly adapt and search for new markets. One direction for the development of Ukrainian grain exports could be to increase the volumes of supplies to developing markets, such as China, India, and Southeast Asian countries. However, it is necessary to consider the risks and limitations associated with the regulation of international trade and product quality. Government support is also an important factor that can contribute to strengthening the positions of Ukrainian grain exports in the global markets.
