
Sowing of winter crops in Ukraine was made on 6.8 million hectares
As of October 29, 6.900.000 ha were sown with grain in Ukraine, which is 96% of the total amount of allotted land. This year, 7.200.000 ha were allocated for winter crops.
Such information was provided by the portal «Latifundist».
This year, winter wheat was sown on an area of 5.900.000 ha, which is 95% of the planned territory. Last year, this crop was sown on an area of 5.800.000 ha.
The area sown with rye was 116.000 ha, which is 79% of the planned territory. Last year, 145 thousand hectares were allocated for this crop.
The area under winter barley reached 841.000 ha, which is 96% of the planned territory. The area allotted for the crop last year amounted to 781 thousand hectares.
Also, it should be added that the sowings of winter rape even exceeded the predicted area of 888 thousand hectares, and reached 1 million hectares, which amounted to 115% of the planned territory.
In the current season, Ukraine has sown winter crops on an area of 6.8 million hectares, which is 300,000 hectares more than last year. It is expected that favorable weather conditions combined with the use of new agricultural technologies will lead to an increase in winter crops’ yield. At the same time, experts note that factors such as drought and winter frost may affect the yield. The Ukrainian government is taking measures to support the agricultural sector and find solutions that will minimize the risks of crop loss. A successful winter crops yield can become an important factor in Ukraine’s economic development and strengthening its position in the global arena.
