Export figures of Ukrainian barley decreased in the new MY

As of September 26, Ukraine exported 8.650.000 t of grain, which is 800.000 t less in comparison with the past year.

Such information was obtained from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

As of this period, slightly more than 5 million tons of wheat were supplied to foreign markets, which is 195.000 t less than it was sold last year. In addition, barley exports also fell to 1.930.000 t.

During the reporting period, we observed an increase in export figures of maize by 283.000 t. And supplies of rye to foreign markets amounted to 40.800 t.

It should also be recalled that in the current MY, changes to the memorandum of understanding were not made, so the export volumes of wheat remained at the level of 16.000.000 t.

At the beginning of the new marketing year, the export figures for barley from Ukraine decreased by 40% compared to the previous year. The decrease in barley export volumes could have a negative impact on Ukraine’s agricultural economy, as it is one of the country’s main agricultural products. However, experts note that the decrease in barley export volumes is a temporary phenomenon associated with a reduction in production this year. In the future, it is planned to restore production and increase barley exports from Ukraine.
