Wheat export from Kazakhstan increased

In February this year, 533 thousand tons of wheat were exported from the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is today a monthly record for the current marketing season.

The biggest amount of wheat was imported by such countries as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In February this year, 258.5 thousand tons and 59 thousand tons were exported to these countries, respectively. The last of the top three importers of Kazakh wheat was Turkey. In comparison with January figures, exports to this country grew by 35% and amounted to 53.6 thousand tons.

During the 8 months of the current marketing season, wheat exports totalled 3.16 million tons, which is 33% more than it was exported over the previous year.

The indicators of wheat export from Kazakhstan continue to grow steadily. In the first quarter of 2018, exports reached 2,288,000 tons, which is 14.7% more than last year. This indicates a stable increase in wheat production and strengthening of Kazakhstan’s position in the global market. The main consumers of Kazakhstani wheat are Central Asian countries, China, and Iran. The increase in export indicators is related to the growing demand for Kazakhstani wheat in the global market and the improvement of product quality. Kazakhstani wheat producers continue to improve production and processing technologies, which makes their products more competitive in the global market. The increase in wheat export is an important source of income for the Kazakhstani economy and has a positive impact on the country’s development.
