Flour export from Kazakhstan increased

Over the past 8 months of the current marketing year, exports of wheat flour from Kazakhstan increased by 14% compared to the same period last year.

However, the export of wheat flour in February decreased in comparison with January by 46.7 thousand tons. In February, 198.6 thousand tons were exported, whereas in January this figure was 245.3 thousand tons.

This tendency is observed due to a reduction in flour supplies to Afghanistan by 12% compared to January supplies. In February, 135.500 tons were exported to Afghanistan.

It should be recalled that in 2017 in Kazakhstan, 20.6 million tons of grain crops were harvested, while the yield was 13.4 centners per hectare. This indicator is almost equivalent to the indicator of the past year.

In Q1 2018, Kazakhstan’s wheat flour export reached 302,400 tons, which is 16% higher than in the same period of the previous year. The main consumers of Kazakh flour are Central Asian countries, Russia, and China. The increase in export figures is due to the growing demand for Kazakh flour in the region and the improvement of product quality. In addition, the reduction of flour prices in Kazakhstan also contributes to the increase in its export. Flour export is one of the important sources of income for the Kazakh economy, so increasing its volume has a positive impact on the country’s development.
