One of the main grain regions of Kazakhstan turs to to the cultivation of oilseeds
Kostanay region, that is one of the main regions for growing grain crops, switches to oilseeds.
In recent years, the share of oilseeds in the Kostanay region started inscreasing. The reason for such changes is the price of such crops as flax, rapeseed, buckwheat and sunflower, which exceeds the price of wheat by 2-3 times.
In 2021, the farmers of this region have planned to cultivate grain on more than 5 million hectares. 652 thousand hectares are sown with oilseeds.
Agricultural specialists plan to increase the area for oilseeds by 12 thousand hectares. This was facilitated by the payment of subsidies to seed oil producers. Then they will transfer it for to Kazakhstan processing plants. The region allocated ¼ billion tenge for these actions.

The transition to growing oilseeds (sunflower, rapeseed, flax, and others) in the grain region opens up new opportunities, but at the same time sets stricter requirements for quality control at all stages – from seeds to the final product. Quality analyzers help producers:
- optimize seed composition and obtain higher yields with quality that meets market standards;
- reduce oil losses during processing;
- ensure the availability of quality products that meet the requirements of importers.
