According to information received from local departments of agriculture, as of July 17, in the south of Kazakhstan, slightly less than 355,000 tons of grain crops were harvested.

The area from which these crops were harvested was 177 thousand hectares, which is almost 17% of the total area allocated for cereals. The average yield reached a level of 2 tons per hectare.

It should be recalled that as of the same date last year, almost 499 thousand tons were harvested, while the average yield was 2.3 tons per hectare.

Also, this year the area for sowing wheat was cut by 500 thousand hectares.

Preliminary forecasts say that 21.7 million hectares are allocated for sowing this year, which corresponds to the level of the previous year.

Kazakhstan is one of the largest grain producers in the world, but this year the country failed to achieve the previous year’s yield. According to the data, the volume of the new harvest in Kazakhstan is lower than last year’s, which may lead to an increase in grain prices and have a negative impact on the country’s economy. The main reasons for the decrease in yield are weather conditions and a lack of investment in agriculture. Moreover, many farmers face problems related to a shortage of labor resources and low efficiency in using land resources. However, experts are confident that modern technologies and investments in the industry can help increase yield and ensure stable economic growth in Kazakhstan in the future.
