Exports volumes of wheat from Kazakhstan became the highest over the past 6 years
During 2018, 5.8 million tons of wheat were exported from Kazakhstan, which is almost 50% more than it was exported in 2017. In addition, this figure is the maximum in comparison with the export volumes over the past six years.
Almost 40% of all shipments were provided by ten large exporting companies.
The export geography is as follows. The main importing country is Uzbekistan, with an export volume of 2.2 million tons, which is 39% of the total exports of this crop. In addition, Tajikistan and China are also among the top three importers, with an import volume of 1 million tons and 0.55 million tons, respectively.
In 2019, Kazakhstan achieved record levels of wheat exports, reaching the highest level in 6 years. The main buyers of the product were China, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. The increase in exports was due to favorable weather conditions that led to an increase in yield and grain quality. The increase in wheat exports is an important factor for the development of Kazakhstan’s economy, as agriculture is one of the country’s key industries. The increase in exports may also stimulate the rise of grain prices in the global market. However, Kazakhstan faces competition from other major grain producers such as Russia and Ukraine.
