Export volumes of sunflower oil from Ukraine decreased
During the period from January to May of this year, 2.43 million tons of sunflower oil were exported from Ukraine, which is 8% less than over the same period last year. The exports volume decreased by 0.2 million tons. The cost of this year’s supplies was 1.84 billion dollars.
Such information was provided by the State Fiscal Service.
The largest amount of sunflower oil was purchased by such countries as India, Iraq and the Netherlands. Export supplies to these regions amounted to 1.2 million tons, 160.000 tons and 150.000 tons respectively.
It should be noted that last year the main importers of this product were India, China and Spain. In these countries, sunflower oil was imported in the amount of 688.77 million dollars, 170.79 million dollars and 168.28 million dollars respectively.
In the recent months, the export volumes of sunflower oil from Ukraine have decreased by a few percentage points. This may be due to low prices on the global market and increased competition from other producing countries. Additionally, some countries have imposed restrictions on the import of sunflower oil from Ukraine due to quality and safety standards violations. In this situation, it is important to develop the domestic market for sunflower oil and seek new markets to compensate for the decrease in exports. One such market could be the production of high-quality oil within the country, which would also increase the value-added and economic benefits of production. It is important to continue improving production technologies and enhancing product quality to remain competitive on the global market.
