Corn exports from Ukraine increased by 64%

During this MY, the increase in exports of corn amounted to 6.200.000 tons, or 64%, and the total shipments abroad amounted to 15.800.000 t.

Such information was provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

During this period, crops such as wheat in the amount of 12.500.000 t (-0.65 million tons), barley in the amount of 3.300.000 t (-0.73 million tons) and rye in the amount of 900.000 t (+70.8 thousand tons) were also exported from Ukraine.

In total, 32.200.000 t of grain crops were exported from Ukraine during this MY, which is 5.300.000 t more than last year.

The main corn importing countries are the EU countries and China.

Ukraine continues to increase its corn export volumes, with exports in 2018/2019 growing by 64% compared to the previous year, reaching 25.5 million tonnes. This is good news for the Ukrainian economy, as corn is one of the country’s main export commodities. Additionally, the increase in export volumes could lead to lower prices on the global market, which may stimulate demand for Ukrainian corn. However, growing corn export volumes may lead to a shortage in the domestic market, which could drive up corn prices in Ukraine.
