Grain exports from Ukrainian seaports decreased by 34% (22.09-28.09)

Corn export figures dropped significantly – this week 36 thousand tons were shipped, whereas last week 93.000 t were shipped. Also, indicators of wheat exports this week amounted to 317.000 t, and last week amounted to 501.000 t.
The first place in export was occupied by the Yuzhny port and during the indicated period 235 thousand tons were shipped. The second place was taken by the port of Odessa with a shipment volume of 89 thousand tons.
The main importers during the reporting period were Spain, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
It should be recalled that the production of cereals in the world is forecast at a level of 2.072 billion tons.
During the period from September 22 to September 28, grain exports from Ukrainian seaports decreased by 34% compared to the previous week. The reason for the decline was adverse weather conditions that made it difficult to load grain onto ships. The reduction in grain exports from Ukrainian seaports could negatively impact the country’s agricultural economy by reducing export volumes and worsening performance in the grain sector. However, experts note that this decrease should not significantly affect the overall grain export figures from Ukraine, which remain high.
