Corn Harvest in Ukraine and Modern Grain Drying Technologies

As of December 12, 83% of Ukraine’s corn acreage has been harvested, with total gross production reaching 25.366 million tons and an average yield of 69.4 centners per hectare.

This year, harvesting is progressing more slowly than usual due to rainy weather and high grain moisture. The greatest delays are observed in Kherson region, where only 7.1% of the acreage has been harvested, as well as in Donetsk (42.7%) and Kharkiv (43.2%) regions.
Significant areas remain unharvested in Volyn (60.2%), Ternopil (64.9%), Zhytomyr (68%), Lviv (70.7%), and Dnipropetrovsk (74.2%) regions.

Record yields were recorded in Khmelnytskyi region at 105 centners per hectare, while Chernihiv region leads in total output, having harvested 3.9 million tons from 85% of its acreage.

High grain moisture makes drying a critical stage in crop processing, as it reduces moisture to optimal levels, ensures long-term storage, and prevents spoilage. To address these challenges, farmers use Akron Svegma series tower grain dryers, which are designed for drying corn, wheat, sunflower, and other crops. The equipment is characterized by high capacity—ranging from 5 to 250 tons per hour—robust construction, and operational efficiency. The dryers operate on liquefied and natural gas, diesel fuel, steam, and solid fuels, creating optimal conditions for high-quality drying and long-term crop storage.
