The needs of the domestic market in agricultural crops are exceeded
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, there is a surplus in the yield of all major crops in the 2017/2018 marketing year.
The production volume of early grain crops (wheat, rye, barley) is the second largest in decades. This makes it possible to increase flour production volumes for the domestic market and for export.
Also, in this marketing year, for the first time in more than 10 years, Ukraine has produced enough amount of rye for the domestic market.
According to the ministry’s statements, it is believed that significant overproduction is a guarantee that prices in the market will remain at the same level.
The predicted yield of agricultural products in Ukraine is as follows: flour – 2.2 million tons (domestic market needs – 1.8 million tons); oil – about 6 million tons (domestic market needs – 400 thousand tons); sugar – 2 million tons (domestic market needs – 1.5 million tons); potatoes – 20.5 million tons (domestic market needs – 6.3 million tons); vegetables – 8.3 million tons (domestic market needs – 6.7-7 million tons).
